What Kind of Truck Do You Run?
Every class of truck fails in its own way, and the policy that fits one will leave gaps in another. Pick your equipment and see what actually matters for it.

Underwriters do not price trucking as one business. A dump truck raising a bed on soft fill, a reefer holding temperature on a load of protein, and a tow operator working a live highway at night are three completely different risk profiles, and the coverages that matter most are different in each case.
That is why a generic commercial auto quote so often leaves a hole. Cargo limits sized for dry freight will not reach a full deck of vehicles. A standard cargo form will not pay for a refrigeration breakdown. A truck policy without on hook coverage does nothing for a wrecker. The gap only shows up at claim time.
Pick your class above and we will tell you what carriers actually look at, what the common gaps are, and what your operation should cost. If you are not sure where you fit, or you run mixed equipment, just get in touch and we will sort it out with you. You can also check our cost calculator for a realistic range, or browse coverage by type of policy or by state.
Common questions
What if I run more than one type of truck?
That is normal and it is not a problem. Plenty of fleets run a mix, for example flatbeds alongside dry vans, or dump trucks alongside a couple of hotshots. We write the whole operation on one program rather than making you buy separate policies, but the underwriting has to reflect every class you actually run. Tell us the full mix upfront so nothing is written off the wrong assumption.
Does the type of truck really change the price that much?
Yes, and often more than fleet size does. Equipment type drives both how likely a loss is and how expensive it gets. Tanker and auto hauling sit well above dry van, box truck delivery sits below it, and hazmat tank work is in its own tier entirely because the required federal limits are higher. Radius, driver records, and loss history still matter enormously, but the class you run sets the starting point.
I do not see my equipment listed. Can you still write it?
Very likely. The classes above are the ones we get asked about most, not the limit of what we place. Car carriers, dry vans, pneumatic bulk, refuse, logging, moving and storage, and mixed specialty operations all get written. Call or text 423-264-4255 and describe what you run.
How fast can I get a quote?
Same day in most cases. Send your DOT number, your truck count, and three years of loss runs if you have them, and a licensed agent shops it across multiple A rated carriers rather than sending you to whoever answered first. Certificates go out same day once you are bound, most within the hour.
